2009 started with a major appointment - Joyce Henry to the IRB World Cup Sevens in Dubai. She was one of four women referees at the tournament. Her top match as a referee was the Women's match between England and South Africa - can't go much higher than that. Well done, Joyce.
Also in early 2009, Karen Lozada refereed matches in Ireland courtesy of the Irish Rugby Football Union.
Meanwhile, Roelie Cronje attended the ALBA Tournament in Cuba to act as both referee and a referee coach. For more on what he experienced, click here.
