During July there was be a festival of matches for the U14 age grade.  Starting with exhibition matches by the Ontario team against club sides, they culminated with matches against Provincial squads from BC and Alberta on July 25.  A total of 24 matches wwere played.

From an officiating viewpoint, these matches presented an excellent opportunity for some of our younger referees to test themselves and gain experience.  Most were reffed by the young Academy members.  Others were handled by more experienced referees who combined refereeing with coaching the younger referees.  Rugby Ontario Referee Development Officer Andrew Hall coordinated the  appointments. 

Some of the young (and not-so-young) referees involved were Moe Chaudhry, Jessica Wong, Rose Labreche, Nathan Robb, Chris McKee, Adam Wilhelm, Lauren McDonald, Peter Darbishire, John Doyle Rasso, Scott Fleming, Bill DiNardo, Ben Wood and Andrew Hall.    The comments received about the referees was universally positive which is a credit to both the referees and to the coaches who were advising them.  A job well done!
